Getty Mattingsley

Getty MattingsleyGetty Mattingsley, left, is a ridiculously good poker player.

Lifetime in our heads-up matchups, I’m a confirmed 53-4-1 with the tie coming from Getty giving up and storming out of my house due to how badly I was shitting on him.

But overall, Getty is an amazing player.  According to HendonMob, which is one of those official sites that tracks info, he has nearly $127,000 in live poker winnings, not to mention the $100,000-plus he’s won on the internet (when internet poker actually existed).

Currently, he’s in the money in Event 12 of the 2011 World Series of Poker, which is the Triple-Chance $1,500 no-limit hold ’em event.  He has 60,000 chips with blinds at 800/1,600. There are 113 players left and he’s guaranteed $3,000 with the first place prize sitting at a hefty $350,000.

He was on ESPN last year for a whole episode of the televised World Series of Poker Main Event.  He was sitting near Michael Mizrachi at the featured table and ended up finishing 101st in the Main Event for a little under 60 grand.  Although he got completely owned by Mizrachi (and the rest of the table) and lied about his college major – Getty still has random casino folk ask him for autograph due to his hour in the spotlight.

Hopefully, he takes this down.  He’s a boss at poker and I know he will spend the money wisely (fly me out to Vegas) if he wins.

Good luck, Getty.
